Small note: the ad at the bottom of the section is one of my NKJV clients! I did his gnome logo, the ad, t-shirts, and his social media graphics. | As a graphic designer in small-town, rural Nebraska, there aren't too many opportunities to win design awards. So when there is, I sure jump on it. In August of 2016 I started working at the Sidney Sun-Telegraph as the Advertising Designer, then became the Design Editor in 2017. It has been such a great experience to expand my field of graphics to newspaper design and layout. I can honestly say, I absolutely love my job. Every year there is a contest for Nebraska Newspapers. Last year was the first time I was able to submit for the contest. I didn't even get on the board. But this year, I was more prepared and had a full year of work to choose from and I finally got on the board! I got 2nd place in the Community Section, and I've gotta tell ya, I am beyond excited to even be listed next to some of these submissions!! Some of these ads that won are amazing! - jennifer velasco |

Gardeners in Sidney, Nebraska have a Community Garden where members of the community purchase a plot (or more then one) and garden for the season. There are some participants that are working with the local food pantry to provide fresh home grown produce for those that are in need. It was a pleasure working with the head of the Board to build this logo & letterhead for requesting grants and for their advertising. Will update once the fliers & letterhead have been approved.
